West Cork Carers Support Group’s Governance Code Journey
The Governance Code is a code of practice for good governance of community, voluntary and charitable organisations (CVC’s) in Ireland. All CVC organisations have a responsibility to provide and follow a code of good practice when it comes to how their organisations are run. It is also an invaluable tool to help our organisation perform to the highest standards possible and give confidence to you and all of our stakeholders.
West Cork Carers Support Group’s Board of Directors are committed to adopting and implementing The Governance Code and are currently undertaking a comprehensive review of our compliance with the principles. Our aim for 2016 is to continue with the adoption journey, working towards compliance with the Code by the end of January 2017.
For more information see the website www.governancecode.ie.
The Charities Regulatory Authority & Compliance with the Charities Act 2009
A new Charities Regulatory Authority (CRA) has been created to secure compliance by charities with their legal obligations and also to encourage better administration of charities. All charities in Ireland are now legally required to register with the CRA, provide certain information relating to the organisation, and submit an Annual Report. All registered charities are being assigned a new Registered Charity Number.
We would like to inform you that in order to meet our responsibilities as a charity, West Cork Carers Support Group has completed the CRA registration process, and filed and submitted our Annual Report for 2014.
West Cork Carers Support Group’s new Registered Charity Number is: 20066710.

Pre-Budget Submission 2016
The Minister for Finance Michael Noonan has confirmed that there is up to €1.5bn ‘wriggle room’ available for tax cuts and spending increases in the upcoming October budget. How would you like to see this spent?
At West Cork Carers Support Group we have been working over the past few years to gain recognition for the work of Carers, lobby for improved services and supports, and to give a voice to Carers issues. Each year, we make a submission on behalf of our members to The Taoiseach, Ministers and Local Public Representatives prior to the October Budget.
We would welcome your views, and are open to suggestions, as to which issues we should prioritise in this year’s submission. This could include arguing the case for the retention of/increases to Carers financial supports, healthcare and social services, pension entitlements, universal medical/GP cards etc. as well as any other issues relevant to Carers that you would like us to raise.
Please send us your thoughts, ideas and comments by Friday 31st July. You can do this by post to: West Cork Carers Support Group, Bridge Street, Bantry, Co. Cork or by emailing us at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
As a guide, you can download a template with a number of key areas here: Template for Feedback for WCCSG’s Pre Budget Submission 2016. The template can also be posted or emailed to assist you – please contact us on 027-53848 or email: email@example.com.
